The Missing Link – Why Most Nigerians Fail With Network Marketing

Yesterday, I had a meeting with 2 friends of mine.

One of them is a lady who is looking at joining a network marketing company.

The other friend is a guy who spent over N5m last year researching network marketing
companies, their products, their training, building a team etc (and found out a lot of
loopholes and deceptions)

Just like most people who are suckered into joining an MLM company, this lady had attended
a seminar where she was sold the same LIE that MLM companies sell to people which is…

“It is simple to start making money from our products. Just make a list of your families, friends and colleagues and start selling to them. All you need is word of mouth marketing to people close to you”

They will even show you testimonies from people who joined the program, took their training and
are making money from the MLM programme.

The ONLY thing they won’t tell you is that those who make a success out of MLM businesses don’t
do so by relying on the stupid and inefficient marketing technique of selling to friends and
family members.

Those who succeed with network marketing companies do so because they know how to sell. Not by depending on families and friends.

Every year, a lot of people join various MLM companies because they want extra income but after
joining, they get stuck.

Nothing seems to work.

And that is because they tend to follow the OLD beaten lie that MLM companies sell to people.

And MLM companies sell that same OLD lie because it makes the process look easy and people
love easy.

Does this mean you can’t make a lot of money from network marketing companies?

No. That is not what I am saying.

Personally, I know about 10 people on my list who make close to a million Naira monthly from network
marketing but they can do so because they fixed the missing link which is…

They mastered the art of selling and that ONE thing changed the game for them.

This does not even apply to MLM alone.

If you are tired of your income and you want something better, you should make a decision today to
start learning how to sell.

Of course learning how to sell will take some of your time and money but it is well worth it than you spending that time and money on pursuing a masters degree.

Doing this ONE thing will change the game for you.

However, if you decide to go the same LAZY road and avoid doing what will help you, well you should
be ready to face the pain of being broke.

If you are not ready to learn how to sell, then you should just keep your money and maybe save up to
invest it in one of these safe bank investments with low interests that can’t even keep up with inflation.

At least with that, you won’t be throwing your money away.

The ability to SELL is by far the most wonderful money making skill you can have in today’s world
to become independently free from money worries.

It is the missing link.

It is the ONLY way to be in complete control of your finances.

It is the same reason why a lot of middle class people who attempt to start a business fail and
go broke.

That is why I will be dedicating this year mainly to teaching people about the art of selling – online,
offline everywhere.

If you are ready, then don’t miss any of my mails, blogposts, free reports, videos etc this year.

And kindly use any of the buttons below to share this article on FB or Twitter and make
a little contribution to someone’s life.

P.S – Actually, a lot of Network marketing companies are well dressed scams. Only a few are setup
with systems and products meant to help people to succeed.

So, the first step to even succeed with network marketing is to join a genuine company with solid
foundation and a strong system. Next will be your ability to put together a system to sell effectively.

I couldn’t agree any better. The heart of every business is mastering the art of selling. Recently, a friend was trying to introduce me to one new one and she told me, there’s nothing to sell. Being in business for over 8years, I know there’s always something every business sells; it might be a product or a service, but there will always be something to sell.
Thanks for sharing this piece and I look forward to the rest to come.

Yeah! Every business succeeds based on the results they get from their sales. And like you said, there is always something to sell because that is how money is made by all businesses. Businesses sell ideas, concepts, products, services etc but it is all about SELLING.

Well, if you are not selling online, you don’t need a website. Now you know the problem and you know the solution is learning how to sell. Switching companies won’t magically solve the problem because you will still have to sell in any company you join. So, just make a one time decision to gain the skill of selling and it will pay you for many years to come.

I even signed up for an Affiliate Marketing Programme just so that I could get the best knowlege in selling/promoting products online.

Mr. Omotayo, I’m so glad you’re starting this training. Perhpas you won’t mind being my Internet Coach *wink*

The ability to sell is truly what you needed to go from zero to figures even five figures in less time.

Personally, I do not like networking marketing businesses because people doing it offline get stocked and I have closely watched them as they only use old testimonials and what they will use to make you feel success will come is to tell you that you should not expect anything from it in 3yrs. Huh… “Me no dey for that”.

But I made a decision at the beginning of this year to try MLM and I know that the only skill needed to succeed is the ability to sell ONLINE or to a very large audience!

    I am still learning….

    Hey Mr Toyin,

I couldn’t agree more to your point about selling. For a business to stay afloat, the business needs income and the only way to generate income is through sales. This is an indisputable fact! However, Nigerians have mistaken selling to hawking, especially in the Network Marketing industry. Selling is not what it used to be, at least with the advent of the internet. The internet has made selling become possible without much physical effort. I have been building my network marketing business for a while now and i have never had the course to hawk to get clients to buy my products and opportunity. This has been made possible because i and my team leverage so much on the internet to drive our Network Marketing businesses in the comfort of our bedroom. We have made it a matter of necessity for anybody joining our team to have this online sales representative set up for him/her before any other thing because we know that at the beginning, not everyone will be a good salesman, but as time goes on and as more sales happen especially through the online sales system, the confidence of this new recruit will increase when the biggest problem(selling) is taken away. We have experimented with this and the result has been proven.

Network Marketers needs to have a system that can help them sell their products online. If they can get it done, 80% of the challenges they face will be over.

You are doing a great job with your letters Mr Toyin. Though i have heard a lot about your person but this is my first time visiting your blog and i must say i am not disappointed.

I don’t need to say “Keep Up The Good Job” because i’m sure you definitely will 🙂

    Dear Toyin,
I am happy that Nigeria is now awake to network marketing in its proper form. People think it just means get someone to sign up and that’s it… Even in Europe, that has changed. One needs to advertise one’s product (even your training programme..) and for that there are many onlne advertising platforms, the most recent of which is (of which I am an affiliate) that has the eyeballs of the high net worth people globally.
Apart from advertising, one has to build a list. But most important of all is BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP first so that selling can follow. WHY so? This is because people will only buy from those they know, like and trust.
I have posted your write up in my FB group (Achievable Wealth Motivators) because we have many Nigerians members as well. I am currently updating my website otherwise your articles would have been posted there (with your permission, of course). I hope we will remain in touch for when upgrade is completed. Let’s help one another…help me also share my comment so we can be mutually beneficial to ourselves.
    Best regards,

I absolutely agreed with what you shared. I’m currently involved with Max International. We have great products and a system for earning huge income. I leveraged on the online space and do adverts for our products. In less than 3 months I made over N2,000,000 profit. So if you don’t sell anything, you don’t make anything. I tell people during my seminars that if you cant generate buying customers without physical presence, then you should go settle for traditional business. Network marketing will thrive best online ie on the Net, in this jet age we currently are. Thanks so much Mr. Toyin. I really look forward to learning more nuggets from you on Thursday for your program on Facebook marketing.
