An Open Letter For People Who Want More Sales & Customers This Year

Dear subscriber,

In this post, I want to quickly share 3 pieces of advice with you that will bring you more sales, more customers and more money this year.

I am going to give you advice No. 1 in a minute.

But first, let’s talk about something important.

Have you set your business goals and targets for this year?

If you haven’t, please do so now so that you can know what you are aiming for.

This is why having a target is important.

Let’s say your target is to make N15m this year.

You can now divide that number by 12 to get a monthly target.

So, N15m divided by 12 is N1.25m

Basically, what this means is that you need to bring in business that is at least N1.25m a month in order to achieve that target.

Now that you know what you are gunning for every month, let me tell you the first sales & marketing advice you that will help you reach your target.

It starts with this advice that I drum into the ears of my elite students.

“Your first job when starting a business is to FIGURE OUT WHO YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE and where to find them in large quantities”

The first advice I want to give is what I have in all caps in the above statement.

You can also refer to it as KNOWING YOUR AUDIENCE:

What do I mean?

Your audience are your customers and the people who will likely become your customer.

Most small business owners have never sat down to really ask themselves this question:

“Who is my target customer?”

And that is one of the reasons why they struggle.

I want you to ask yourself this question today.

Describe your ideal customer.

What is their gender, their age range, their interests, hobbies, marital status, their needs etc?

When you understand your audience;

You will know what they want to buy

You will know where to find them

And you will know how to find them

Most importantly, you will be able to run very effective adverts on Facebook or any other platform to attract them.

That is because you will know the right type of people to target.

And you will know exactly what to say in your advert that will resonate with them.

Because of this knowledge, you will stop wasting your money, time and energy on people who will probably never do business with you.

This knowledge is not only applicable online.

It is also very applicable for all offline businesses.

For instance, I did a consulting for an auto-repair workshop back in 2014.

I asked them who their audience was and they said they repair all types of car.

I said no.

Fortunately, they had a book where they recorded details about each car that they have worked on.

When we looked through the book, we found out that their best audience was people who drove fairly used BMW and Benz cars

So, we launched a campaign that allowed them to advertise to those people via a letter that promoted an offer.

Very soon, they had to stop the offer because they were couldn’t handle all the customers rushing in.

The good news is this:

Even if you do not really know your audience very well, Facebook has a tool that is called audience insights that you can use to learn more about your potential customers.

ADVICE NO. 2:

One of the benefits you get from knowing your audience is that, it makes it easier for you to find them in large quantities.

When you are able to do this, it suddenly seem like you have a secret weapon.

While others are struggling to find customers and complaining, you know the right place to go and get your customers.

It is like knowing about a secret pond where there is plenty of fish.

While other fishermen are struggling to catch fish, you simply jump in your boat, go to your secret pond and return with loads of fish.

Some years ago, the only effective way to advertise to a lot of people was through radio, newspapers, TV and magazines

And men! Those were costly.

But thank God for the internet.

With the internet, it is now far easier and cheaper for us to find customers if we know where to look.

Look at Facebook for instance.

I checked this morning and I found out that FB now has 19 million registered accounts from Nigeria

19 MILLION!

Think about that for a minute.

And the good part is that you can reach any part of these 19 million people from anywhere you are.

Do you want to reach women over 30 who stay in Lekki?

Great. Facebook has you covered.

Just login to your account and setup an advert.

Do you want to reach people who travel frequently with your travel and vacation offers?

Great. It is there on Facebook.

Do you want to reach men over 35 who stay in Abuja?

Possible.

The possibilities are endless.

That is why you have no excuse not to scale your business this year unless you just don’t want to.

You can also reach customers via other means like Youtube, Google, Blogs etc

I only mentioned Facebook because it is the best, easiest and cheapest.

Plus Facebook also owns Instagram which is why you can target Instagram users too on Facebook.

So you now see more reasons why I am always reminding you of my “Run Facebook Ads Cheaper” training?

It is because the ability to run effective and results getting adverts on facebook in today’s world is like a super power.

And to my knowledge, Facebook advertising works more effectively for small businesses because they are able to focus more on the right audiences.

ADVICE NO. 3

Avoid this No. 1 Mistake People Make When Running Facebook Adverts.

Not knowing how to find your potential customers on Facebook is the No. 1 mistake that people make when running Facebook adverts.

Because of this, they end up getting average or below average results.

Take me for instance.

Some years back, I wanted to promote a women related product on Facebook.

So I assumed that the age range to target was women between age 25 – 35.

How wrong I was?

By the way, never assume in marketing. It is a bad thing.

Always make decisons based on facts.

I started running the adverts and the conversions I was getting was average.

I felt a little frustrated.

But then, I started researching about that market.

That research led me to using the Facebook audience insight tool which you can find in the Power editor segment of your facebook account.

Facebook actually exposed me to the fact that the right audience I was supposed to be targeting are women between the ages of 35 upwards.

So, I did just that.

And BOOM!

The results changed.

That is why I tell people.

Before you run any advert on Facebook, please sit down and figure out the exact audience you want to reach.

The facebook audience insight tool is a powerful tool that helps you to know more about your customers so that you can use this information when running your advert.

That way, you can reach people who are most likely to become customers.

And you can spend lesser money on adverts.

I have added an updated video to the “Run FB Ads Cheaper” training that shows the right way to use the Facebook audience insights tool to find the right people who are most likely to respond to your advert.

Get the Facebook Ads training HERE

I actually don’t use the Facebook audience insights tool all the time.

And that is when I REALLY know the audience I want to target.

For instance, if I am promoting designer high heel shoes that sell for N50,000 and above, I won’t use the audience insight tool because I know such shoes will most likely be purchased by:

– A woman

– Ages between 20 – 45

– Who uses a premium phone

And all these and more are ways you can target people via Facebook adverts.

Starting from February 1st, 2018 – the price of the Facebook ads training is going to increase to N10,000.

This training shows you how to run get leads, sales and customers on Facebook.

If one of your plans is to increase your business this year, this training will help you out in a great way.

I wish you success in your business this year.

Enjoy!
